Madame Marantette – Queen of the Saddle

In the latter years of the 19th century, citizens of St. Joseph County were captivated by the achievements and self-promotion of one of their more colorful female citizens of Mendon. Young Emma Peek, a horsewoman of impeccable standards and ability, married into the town’s founding Marantette family and thereafter through a string of life-altering events became known throughout the world as “Madame Marantette – Queen of the Saddle”. Join Holly Stephenson from the St. Joseph County Historical Society who will be presenting the life and mystique of this talented and flamboyant equestrian.
