Kinship Care

Kinship Care is a support group for grandparents raising grandchildren and other relative caregivers. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month, and normally meets at the Centreville United Methodist Church, 305 E. Main Street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. However, while the weather is nice, the group will be meeting at a local park. The next meeting is Thursday, October 21 at Adams Park in Centreville if the weather allows. For more information, please call the support group leader Clark Fries at (269) 858-5704.

The group provides assistance with child care during the meeting as well as dinner. In addition, the support group serves as a resource for education and other services.

Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group

This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Three Rivers COA, 1200 W Broadway Street. For more information, call the COA at (269) 279-8083.

The Alzheimer’s Association also has a 24/7 Hotline (800.272.3900). Through this free service, specialists and master’s level clinicians offer confidential support and information to people with the disease, caregivers, families and the public. You can contact the helpline day or night for information about local programs and services. You can also receive a confidential care consultation and receive help with decision-making support, crisis assistance and education on issues families face every day.
